Acrylic is lighter rustling in a 30% reduction in rebound response. It is also softer which allows for scratching that will give the board a dull look.

Acrylic is the material of choice is you are concerned about vandalism. Tempered glass will break into several small pieces if somebody were to throw a brick at it where as acrylic might only dent.
